Lautenbach's Market, Winery & Cider Co

The Lautenbach family’s market and orchard transformed into Parker Cherry Orchards for the movie. Fun fact! Family members Erin Lautenbach and Carrie Lautenbach-Viste made a cameo appearance in the movie as customers in their own store. 

 

Stop in for a taste of Lautenbach’s Cherry Christmas wine or a slice of fresh baked cherry pie, along with a photo op of the Parker Orchards sign and other fun items, as seen in the movie. Hillside Waterfront Hotel

The Hillside Waterfront Hotel serves as the backdrop of the Chamber’s Christmas party. The kitchen and the attic were also used as filming locations. Owner Diane Taillon is Emma’s grandmother, as shown in the photo of the two of them throughout the movie. The main stars and the film’s director stayed at the Hillside while filming the movie.

 

Holiday Events:

Open houses every Saturday from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm in November and December. Explore the film locations that are typically not open to the public and view some of the behind-the-scenes photos.

Christkindlmarkt Door County

Christkindlmarkt is a key location in the movie.  Located at the Sister Bay Historical Society's Corner of the Past museum property, the annual holiday market is featured and the barn at the market is the backdrop for the cherry pie contest. Vendors featured in the movie can be found at the real market, including Alpaca to Apparel, Henriksen's Fish House, Island Lavender, Laurel Grey Glassworks, The Vault, and Uncle Tom's Candy. Make sure to get your photo with our life-size cutouts of Mitch and Emma in a special movie set backdrop.

Henriksen's Fish House

The real-life Henriksen's family fish house that helped inspire the character of Mitch Henriksen. Fun Fact! Their real-life fishing boat was in the movie and owners Will and Kristie Henriksen were extras in the fishing boat scene.

Renard's Artisan Cheese

Renard's Cherry Cheddar cheese plays a key part in the storyline as a pivotal ingredient in Emma's pie recipe. Guests can sample the cherry cheddar daily at their retail location.

Door County Coffee

Door County Coffee is featured in the movie as a dining location for Emma, Jen, and Mitch. Fun Fact! Door County Coffee owner Vicki Wilson can be seen at the table behind Mitch at breakfast.

The popular observation tower is one of the backdrop of Mitch and Emma's drive down memory road scenes.

Please observe all rules posted on signs at the entrance to the ramp and tower. Tower is closed when snow or ice covered.

Novel Bay Booksellers

Novel Bay Booksellers is the "meet-cute" location of Emma and Mitch. Fun Fact! Novel Bay Booksellers owner, Liz Welter can be seen behind the register in the scene.

Anderson Dock

The iconic Anderson Dock and Warehouse in Ephraim is one of the stops along Mitch and Emma's drive down memory lane scenes when they visit to find their names painted on the building from years past.

Anderson Dock is not maintained during the winter months. Snow and ice may make surfaces slippery and hazardous. Please use caution if visiting. Visitors explore at their own risk.

Tug John Purves

The dock adjacent to the big red tug boat was the location of the Henriksen fish dock in the movie. The Tug John Purves is a permanent floating exhibit for the Door County Maritime Museum located on Sturgeon Bay's historic downtown waterfront.

Emma and Mitch visit the Tannenbaum Holiday Shop to pick up the tree for the chamber holiday party. Fun Fact! The cherry pie ornament they used in the movie came from their store and are available for purchase! The store celebrates Christmas year-round.

Waterfront Mary's

Waterfront Mary's serves as the scenic backdrop for the Henriksen holiday fish boil scene. Fun Fact: They really do Door County Fish Boils at Waterfront Mary's, and the real-life boilmaster for the restaurant is in the background wearing reindeer ears.

St Nick's Tree Farm

Featured at the Christkindlmarkt in the movie. Fun Fact! St. Nick's Tree Farm owner Heather Hoffman was one of the pie judges in the cherry pie bake-off scene and also gave movie director John Stimpson the idea for the "kissing ball." She designed and made all the kissing balls for the movie.
